One of the stadium ushers for Nationals Park had an awful day on the job after being punched by a fan he was trying to escort out of the stadium. A video of the incident shows several venue staffers trying to get the fan to leave, before an older gentlemen enters frame and starts lightly pushing the rowdy fan away.

After a few moments of the fan being pushed along while still arguing with the usher, he lashes out and punches the man twice in the face. When the usher manages to momentarily restrain him from behind, the fan also seems to chomp his hand.

Other bystanders as well as two Metropolitan Police Officers broke them up, and it seemed like the attacker had a minor bleeding injury on the side of his head.

Onlookers were also chanting, “Get him out!”

At the start of the video, so he was likely exhibiting some sort of unruly behavior before the video began. This man clearly didn’t have any sympathy from the crowd, and as he was talking to the police officers that broke the fight up, another fan yelled out “Get the f––k out of here, Samwise Gamgee!”

According to a police report, the man was arrested at the scene and charged with simple assault. His bite apparently caused some bleeding on the usher’s hand, but he refused further medical treatment.

The cause of the argument according to the cops was that the fan was sitting in a section he didn’t have tickets for.

You can definitely argue that sports tickets have gotten prohibitively expensive for fans as stadiums get fancier, but the venue ushers are the absolute last people you should be taking your frustrations out on.

The teams playing were, naturally, the Washington Nationals, against the Atlanta Braves, who took home the win in the ninth inning.
