BAFTAs Bash 'Avatar,' Embrace 'Hurt Locker'
Director Kathryn Bigelow had big success at the BAFTAs, the British equivalent of the Oscars, Sunday night, where The Hurt Locker won six awards including Best Film and Best Director, while her ex-husband James Cameron‘s Avatar claimed just two awards. Colin Firth won for best male lead and admitted during his acceptance speech he had originally written an email to Tom Ford declining the role and was "about to send it when a man came to repair my fridge … so I would like to thank the fridge guy." Fellow Brit Carey Mulligan also took home an award for best female lead, and Mo’Nique and Christopher Waltz won the best supporting actor awards. –MEGHAN GROSSO
