Babyface Dropped From Anita Baker Tour Due To Harassment From His Fans, ‘Kenny’s Crazies’

Anita Baker is currently on her Songstress tour, which originally was supposed to feature Babyface as a special guest. Baker has been harassed by his fans who have threatened, verbally abused and bullied her online. She decided yesterday that Babyface will not join her for the rest of the tour.

Before she announced this change in plans she posted a tweet yesterday morning that seemed to hint at what was to come. She posted a picture of her singing and captioned it, “#AnitaBaker. Bullies & Abuse will never Stop you. Speak Up. Overcome. Thrive. Move On🎉”

Ten hours later, she officially tweeted her decision saying, “#AnitaBaker After Silently, Enduring Cyber Bulling/Verbal Abuse & Threats of Violence from the Fan Base, of Our Special Guest❤️/Support Act. In the Interest of Personal Safety. I will continue, The Songstress Tour, alone. Appropriate refunds will be made. Blessings🎁ABXO🎼”

Man fans understood her decision and commented on their support. 

Babyface did respond and went on Twitter to release a statement. He wrote, “I am saddened by the news that Anita Baker has decided to remove me from “The Songstress Tour.” It’s unfortunate and disheartening to see how things have played out via social media. While I was looking forward to the rest of the dates, I have nothing but love & respect for Anita and I wish her the best for the remainder of her tour.” He captioned the photo: “💔”

Baker had already asked Babyface to ask his fans to stop this harassment via Twitter two days ago. 

She asked him, “Kenny’s Crazies are online Bullies. @Babyface Please call off, your fans. I have been Only Kind and Supportive, of You, as the Special Guest/Support, on My Tour ABXO🎼.” A day later she removed him from the tour. 

Babyface did not reply to Baker’s tweet. 

Before announcing the new plan, Baker did respond to some comments that were criticizing her, but it did not seem to stop further harassment.

On Sunday she also tweeted, “I’m being attacked, harassed & threatened.” 

It seems that problems between Baker and Babyface did not just start this week.

On May 10, Babyface was supposed to perform as a special guest for Baker but ended up not taking the stage. He tweeted that night, “I am truly sorry to my fans who have been waiting for us to hit the stage this evening at @PruCenter. I was asked not to perform in order to give Ms. Baker her space and time to perform her show in its entirety. My band and I are extremely saddened we didn’t get to perform for y’all tonight 💔”

Since the announcement yesterday, she has posted a few more tweets on the issue. 

In the one posted at 12:44 a.m., she wrote, “Dear Friends & Fans, on My TL, who are being harassed, by folk purporting to be, Babyface’s fans. Block them & Rept the harassment. Do Not Engage, on my behalf. I Love You❤️ABXO🎼”

In another one, she took a jab at Babyface writing, “See, what we just accomplished, here Loves?… It’s Very Easy to Ask your friends and fans, to Dis-Engage… IF, you Actually Wanted them, to do so. ABXO🎼❤️ Keep Blocking The Bullies.”
