Augustus Sol Invictus
Augustus Sol Invictus, a Florida Libertarian who is running for U.S. Senate, has admitted today to the Orlando Sentinel that while on a quest in the Mojave Desert after a week of fasting and praying, he killed a goat and drank its blood as part of pagan ritual.
This act has Adrian Wyllie, chairman of the Florida Libertarian Party who barely received any votes in the Florida governor’s race last year, calling for his resignation from the party. “He is the absolute exact opposite of a Libertarian. He’s a self-proclaimed fascist. He’s promoting a second civil war,” Wyllie said. “It’s absolute insanity. We must explain to people this is the opposite of Libertarians. This guy has no place in the Libertarian Party.”
Invictus, a 32-years-old lawyer and whose name is a Latin phrase for “majestic unconquered sun,” doesn’t see himself as as a white supremacist nor does he believe his actions towards the goat were brutal. “I did sacrifice a goat. I know that’s probably a quibble in the mind of most Americans,” he said. “I sacrificed an animal to the god of the wilderness … Yes, I drank the goat’s blood.” He has stated further that the U.S. Marshals and FBI are investigating him due to writings he has published where he rejected his U.S. citizenship.
