A bystander, Edward Suazo, recorded a video of Schlossberg angrily confronting a worker after they started to speak Spanish. While he was there, he threatened to get them out of the country. “My guess is, they’re not documented, so my next call is to ICE to have each one of [them] kicked out of my country. They have the balls to come here and live off of my money. I pay for their welfare, I pay for their ability to be here. The least they could do, the least they could do is speak English,” he said in the video.
Since the video was published, he has been removed from his law offices. Schlossberg released his apology on Twitter, stating that “the manner in which I expressed myself is unacceptable and not the person I am. He also shared that he moved to New York “because of the remarkable diversity.”
However, many people are not finding his apology to be genuine, but more of a way to protect his career.

While not directly commenting on the issue, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted that, “The 8.6 million people who call this city home speak more than 200 languages – they’re all New Yorkers and they’re all welcome here.”
