Kevin Federline, Britney Spears’ Ex-Husband, Demands $40K Increase In Monthly Child Support

Britney Spears‘ ex-husband, Kevin Federline, filed legal documents on Tuesday claiming the need for raised monthly child support from Spears. Federline is seeking $60,000 a month from Spears.

Federline said the demand originates from the imbalance their two sons experience when staying at either parent’s home. In the paperwork, he said, Spears lives in a house “with an elevator, a library, a media/game room, 3,500 bottle wine cellar, an additional 1,200 square foot pool house, an orchard, resort-sized pool and spa, lighted tennis court and three-green golf course,” while he resides in a 2,000 square-foot home with his wife, Victoria Prince. Federline also said he cannot afford to take his sons on lavish vacations and provide the countless video game systems and private chefs that Spears does.

Federline claimed that he only makes $3,000 a month, which equates to less than one percent of Spears’ annual income.

“I am no longer able to perform as a dancer due to my age, and I have not been as successful in putting out new music as I was in 2008,” Federline said. “I am simply less of a ‘name’ and less in demand than I was in 2008, which has negatively affected my income.”

Federline is also a father to two children from Shar Jackson and another two from Prince.

He apparently tried to settle the matter privately with Spears before filing legal documents. Federline’s attorney told UsWeekly, “We gave them ample time and opportunity to settle Kevin’s child support modification increase, and they came back with conditions that are not reasonable.”

When the two split in 2007, Spears agreed to pay Federline $20,000 a month and paid him an extra $1.3 million when they officially divorced.

Spears has since gone on tour, signed two residencies in Las Vegas, released four new albums, five compilation albums, 18 fragrances and a lingerie line. Her finances have been her father’s control since her infamous breakdown in 2007. Spears reportedly will not divulge her income or turn over her tax return to Federline.

Federline’s attorney said, “It’s their position that they don’t have to turn over Britney’s financial information, including tax returns, which is required under the California family code. It’s not California celebrity code edition, she has to comply.”
