On Tuesday, Ashley Judd revealed that she is walking again in a social media post six months after shattering her leg in four places on a trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Judd is best known for appearing in films such as Ruby in Paradise in 1993, Heat in 1995, A Time to Kill in 1996, Kiss the Girls in 1997 and Double Jeopardy in 1999. Judd has also starred in the mystery thriller drama television series Missing as the character Rebecca “Becca” Winstone, for which she was nominated for a Prime Time Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie.

Judd injured herself while walking through the rainforest of the Congo. She spent fifty-five hours getting help from African porters, who needed to take her to a hospital in South Africa. Her leg took six months to heal. Judd soon posted a video of herself walking on a hike in the Swiss National Park through her Instagram account with a statement to go along with it.

“Dear Friends, It is with reverence and quiet awe I offer this update. Today, five months and three weeks after the accident in the Congolese rainforest, I walked again, and in what fashion! I hiked in the #SwissNationalPark. Stepping in, I felt in my ease, my natural garment of self, at home in my spirit. My leg and foot, worked beautifully. I walked uphill on uneven surfaces for an hour confidently and came down carefully and easily. I rested in a meadow on God’s fecund earth for hours. The next day, I walked again on a high Alp in #Ticino, working hard and feeling how much stamina I have to rebuild. This is the road ahead. But I am up to the daily tasks, as I am even carrying firewood into our Alpine hut!”
