Armie Hammer Won’t Be Charged For Sexual Assault By Los Angeles County D.A.

The Los Angeles County D.A.’s office announced on Wednesday that they will not charge Armie Hammer with sexual assault. They cited their reason as not being able to prove Hammer guilty beyond a reasonable doubt due to the complex relationship between him and the accuser, Effie

Hammer was first accused by Effie in February 2021 leading the LAPD to launch an investigation against the actor.

Effie and Hammer had an on-and-off relationship for four years and during this time period, Effie claims to have been emotionally and physically abused and raped in 2017. She said that the abuse had gone so far that she thought Hammer was going to kill her. She took her claims to social media and shortly after other women claimed that Hammer had also abused them.

Hammer has consistently denied these claims and stated that all these relationships were consensual and that he has never forced himself on any woman.

In an interview Hammer took part in February, he admitted to not treating these women well but denied all the allegations and claims that he did not do anything illegal. He stated that he is recovering from drug addiction and has been in rehab. His friend, Robert Downey Jr., has been supporting him through this process. Downey Jr. has also recovered from drug abuse and went to rehab several times and has been arrested for drug abuse.

Since these women stepped forward, Hammer has not acted in any projects. He has been let go by his agency, WME, and was fired from all his films at the time. The last project he worked on was the film Death on the Nile which was shot before the allegations surfaced. Disney debated whether they should reshoot the film without him, but due to costs, decided against it. Hammer was not a part of any press for the film.

After Hammer was cleared on all charges he released a statement on Instagram stating: “I am very grateful to the District Attorney for conducting a thorough investigation and coming to the conclusion that I have stood by this entire time, that no crime was committed. I look forward to beginning what will be a long, difficult process of putting my life back together now that my name is cleared.” He also added this caption to the post: “I would like to say a very special thank you to all of the people who have helped me get through this time. Onwards and upwards.”
