Two years after multiple women publicly accused him of sexual abuse, Armie Hammer broke his silence by revealing that he contemplated suicide after the allegations surfaced and claimed he was sexually abused by a youth pastor when he was 13.

The actor was also cited to have cannibalistic fetishes. In the interview with the digital newsletter Air Mail, he stated that those interests came from the sexual abuse he experienced as a teenager.

“I was powerless in the situation. I had no agency in the situation. Sexuality was introduced to me in a scary way where I had no control. My interests then went to: I want to have control in the situation, sexually,” Hammer explained.

Air Mail reported that Hammer told two people about his childhood abuse and asserted that it verified his statements with his godmother, Candace Garvey.

The sexual abuse allegations occurred in 2021. As a result, Hammer was cut from his agency, WME, and fired from various projects, including the film Shotgun Wedding with Jennifer Lopez.

Since then, Hammer has worked as a timeshare salesman in the Cayman Islands.

He was married to TV host Elizabeth Chambers for 10 years before the couple announced their split before the allegations came out.

Hammer also addressed the accusations against him, saying that “the power dynamics were off” in his relationships with Courtney Vucekovich and Paige Lorenze and that he was emotionally abusive toward them.

However, he denied the rape allegations, including one from a woman named Effie Angelova. Hammer explained that the accused rape was a scene created by Angelova that they enacted, engaging in what is known as a “consensual non-consent scene.”

The former actor said that he has gotten better during his time at a recovery facility and is now able to take accountability for his past actions.
