Armie Hammer Calls Allegation Of ‘Cannibalism’ Against Him ‘Bulls—,’ He’s ‘Grateful’ His Career Is Over

Three years after facing allegations of sexual abuse, assault and even cannibalism, actor Armie Hammer says he is “grateful” for everything he’s gone through.

Hammer commented in an appearance on the Painful Lessons podcast hosted by his friend, Tyler Ramsey. Ramsey asked Hammer to discuss how he got through losing his career after the 2021 scandal.

“Whatever it was that people said, whatever it was that happened, I’m now at a place in my life where I’m grateful for every single bit of it,” the 36-year-old actor said.

Hammer recalled before the allegations, he was never satisfied with himself. He credits the scandal with forcing him to learn self-love and validation.

“I never knew how to give myself love. I never knew how to give myself self-validation, but I had this job where I was able to get it from so many people that I never had to learn how to give it to myself,” he said.

In early 2021, Hammer was accused of sexual misconduct by several women who shared Instagram messages allegedly from him describing disturbing sexual fantasies, including cannibalism. He called the allegations “bulls—” at the time but was dropped by his agency and from several high-profile projects.

Discussing the cannibalism claim, Hammer expressed disbelief, saying, “People called me a cannibal. Like I ate people! What? You have to eat people to be a cannibal!”

Hammer compared the sexual assault allegations to a “neutron bomb” going off in his life. He entered a treatment program and said there were times he had suicidal thoughts but didn’t act because of his children.

After a lengthy investigation, the L.A. district attorney eventually declined to press charges against him

With his Hollywood career over, Hammer now plans to write a screenplay. “My career is nowhere now, but I’m going to try to create in my sandbox,” he said.

Hammer previously discussed the allegations in a 2022 interview. A documentary about his family’s history also came out last year.

In 2010, Hammer spoke to uInterview exclusively about meeting the Winklevoss twins after playing them in The Social Network

“But I did meet them after [filming], which was almost more of a treat,” he said. “It was a little surreal meeting these guys I’ve been trying to pretend to be for the past eight months, so to finally meet them was funny because I felt like I had almost created these characters in my head, so to finally see them in flesh was really interesting. My wife is close friends with several people who were the same year at Harvard, so you know, that whole mutual friend thing on Facebook, so when I booked the part, she was like, ‘No way, these guys are right here on my Facebook!’ So she added them, and then they got in contact. After we finished shooting the movie, she set it up, and we all met, had drinks one night, and just hung out. It was good times.”
