Amanda Knox confirmed her engagement to Seattle musician, Colin Sutherland, as the date of yet another appeal in her Italian murder case approaches.

Amanda Knox Engaged To Colin Sutherland

Knox, 27, and Sutherland, also 27, have known each other since middle school, and reportedly kept in touch during the four years Knox spent in an Italian prison after being convicted of killing her British roommate, Meredith Kercher, in 2007. The verdict was overturned on appeal in 2011, and Knox has been living with her family in Seattle ever since. Knox confirmed her engagement to local reporter Jonathan Martin of The Seattle Times, but refused to comment on the news.

Who Is Colin Sutherland?

Sutherland is a graduate from Sarah Lawrence College, where he reportedly studied French and Theater. He is known to perform under the name ‘Thunderstrike’ as part of the band, The Johnny Pumps.

Sutherland also worked on a project called “The Haunted Life” about a two-man band touring the country while investigating famous ghost stories.

According to the initial report, no date has been set for the wedding, but it is likely that Knox has other things on her mind. After the appeal that found her not guilty was overturned by another Italian court in January of 2014, Knox was sentenced to 28 years in jail. However, Knox declared that she would not return to Italy voluntarily, and would have to be extradited. Knox and her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito – also convicted for the murder – once again entered an appeal, which will be heard in an Italian court on March 25.

Meanwhile, the newly engaged Knox is working as a reporter for West Seattle Herald.
