Allison Williams has steadfastly defended her father, embattled NBC News anchor Brian Williams, from charges against his credibility as a journalist.

Allison Williams Defends Brian Williams

Allison attended the 92nd Street Y event in New York City Wednesday night to talk about her acting career. However, she kicked off her interview with Seth Meyers by attesting to her father’s character, which has been called into question after it came to light that he misrepresented the details of an incident in Iraq in 2003.

“This has been a really hard time, but we’ve also been feeling really lucky, counting our blessings. We have our health, we have each other,” the Girls star told Meyers, who had asked her how the family was doing. “It’s been incredible to experience the outreach from people you love, family, friends, and then people we don’t even know, strangers, just reaching out saying we want him back on TV.”

“My dad has always been there for us 100 percent of the time, even sometimes before we knew we needed him. And so this, to be here for him, is the least we can do,” Allison added.

Allison continued vouching for the suspended NBC Nightly News anchor, reinforcing her belief that he is a good man, who has always been a good father.

“He’s a really good man,” she said of her dad. “He’s an honest man. He’s a truthful man. He has so much integrity. He cares so much about journalism. And yes, he’s a really good dad, but I know you can trust him because, as any good daughter does, I have tested him on that.”

NBC has suspended Brian Williams for six months, during which time Lester Holt is filling in for him at the Nightly News anchor desk.
