Alex Jones said he was “done saying I’m sorry” for spreading lies about the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting while on the stand for a damages trial in Connecticut where several grieving families of the dead students and teachers were in attendance.
Jones has been in legal jeopardy this year due to continued absences from court dates for lawsuits against him in both Texas and Connecticut, which resulted in default guilty judgements in both trials.
This week, a clip from Law & Crime went viral of Jones arguing with Chris Mattei, who is representing the families of Sandy Hook victims in this trial.
Jones and Mattei argue while his lawyer continuously shouts objections. “You have families in this courtroom here that lost children, sisters, wives…” Mattei said, and Jones bizarrely snaps back, “Is this a struggle session, are we in China? I’ve already said I’m sorry a hundred times, and I’m done saying I’m sorry.”
“I legitimately thought it might be staged, I stand behind it, and I don’t apologize for it,” Jones said afterwards, immediately invalidating his “hundred” apologies. Mattei approaches Jones again, and can be heard saying, “You’re going to do it again, aren’t you?”
This clip exemplifies how chaotic the back and forth here was, with the Judge even commenting that she can barely get a word in edgewise to address the flood of objections and people speaking over one another. She said at the end of the trial that both sides “can expect a contempt hearing if anybody steps out of line,” especially if the Friday trial is just as chaotic.
