Alec Baldwin’s Wife, Hilaria, Didn’t Understand What A Prenup Was When Actor Asked Her To Sign One: ‘Very Stupid Of Me!’
Actor Alec Baldwin’s wife, Hilaria, has admitted that before she married Baldwin, she did not understand what a prenup was when he brought her one to sign.
On the Feb. 23 premiere of the new reality TV series The Baldwins, Baldwin and Hilaria remembered how before their wedding in 2012, Baldwin (who was previously married to Kim Basinger) brought a prenup to Hilaria.
Hilaria recalled she was “not happy about it,” and admitted of the awkward moment, “First of all, I just don’t understand quite what…it is awkward, but I don’t actually quite understand what a prenup is.”
When Baldwin asked her, Hilaria explained, “Because you are like, ‘After a certain number of kids, it’s this.’ And I was like, ‘You know what? I’ll just sign it,’ which was probably very stupid of me back then.”
Although Hilaria said that she would read through the prenup again, at the time she told Baldwin, “‘I don’t really want to think about the end by the beginning,’ and you were like, ‘I don’t want to do it either.’”
Baldwin joked that Hilaria then started to cry, to which Hilaria responded that crying would go against her “gold-digger” ways.
The reality episode was filmed only ten days before a judge dismissed Baldwin’s manslaughter charges for the accidental shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust in 2021.
Prior to the dismissal, the Baldwins had filmed confessionals addressing the controversy for the episode.
Baldwin said, “Everything was so different before this happened…Our lives are very, very different. Our children have been forced to recognize that. They’ve been forced to deal with that, with us, in their own way. They’ve had some really unfortunate realizations about things that are going on. Life will forever be different.”
Hilaria mourned, “Halyna lost her life in the most unthinkable tragedy, a son lost his mom. We are going to feel and carry this pain forever. This will be a part of our family story.”
The Baldwins airs at 10 p.m., Sundays on TLC.
