Singer Adele recently announced a temporary pause in her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency in order to preserve her vocal well-being.
In a social media post shared on Tuesday, the artist expressed her regret and emphasized the necessity of her decision.
Adele revealed that she had fallen ill towards the end of her previous tour leg and in her subsequent break, which left her without ample time to fully recuperate before she resumed her performances. Pushing herself prematurely to continue resulted in a relapse and ultimately took a toll on her voice. In adherence to her doctor’s orders, Adele now finds herself obliged to rest until she receives medical clearance.
This unforeseen circumstance has led to the postponement of several future weekend dates. The affected shows, originally scheduled for March 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, and 30, will now be rescheduled for a later date. Adele assured her fanbase that the new show dates would be promptly announced as soon as they were finalized.
Adele acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the postponements and conveyed her sincere apologies.
Adele had disclosed her condition to the audience at one of her recent performances at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, where she humorously likened her vocal struggles to a creature from the ocean. Despite the discomfort, Adele persevered and relied on honey and hot water to soothe her throat throughout the show.
This setback is not the first time Adele has encountered vocal challenges. In November 2011, she underwent surgery for a hemorrhaged vocal cord. Similarly, in June 2017, Adele was compelled to cancel her Wembley Stadium Concert due to vocal cord damage. In a heartfelt letter to her fans and concert attendees, she shared her disappointment and frustration and explained the strain she experienced in her performances.
Last year, Adele drew attention when she demolished the $58 million mansion she bought from Sylvester Stallone in order build an even more lavish one in its place. She also spoke up about giving up drinking, which she described as “boring.”
