Adele opened up about her relationship with alcohol and sobriety during a recent performance of her Las Vegas residency.

“I stopped drinking quite a long time ago. Feels like forever. Maybe like three and a half months ago?” she said. “It’s boring. Oh my God, it’s boring. I mean, I was literally borderline alcoholic for quite a lot of my 20s. I miss it so much. Enjoy your whiskey sour, I’m very, very jealous.”

Adele has frequently talked about her struggles with alcohol use, claiming she gave up drinking for half a year following her 2019 divorce from Simon Konecki.

She later told Oprah Winfrey in 2021 that she had to quit drinking.

“That’s one great way of really sort of getting to know yourself, is just drinking water and being sober as anything,” she said.

This isn’t the first time the pop singer has referenced her alcohol problem. Earlier this year during her Las Vegas residency, she told the audience she drank four bottles of wine in a day during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I remember when I came here in Covid, in lockdown, it was 11 a.m. and I was definitely like four bottles of wine in — like we all were. I said in 2020 that I wanted to put my album out. And we were all at home just drunk basically,” she said.

Adele is currently in the midst of the final stretch of her Las Vegas Residency. The last show is scheduled to take place on November 4.
