Adam Lambert has been tapped to star in Fox’s musical special of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Lambert, 33, has been cast as the the ex-delivery boy named Eddie, who was played by Meat Loaf in the 1975 cult classic film.

“I grew up watching Rocky Horror, but could never imagine that I would be part of this new vision,” Lambert said in a statement. “Rocky Horror always made me feel like it was ok to celebrate my weirdness. Hallelujah, bless my soul! I love that old time rock-n-roll!”

On Twitter, Lambert wrote excitedly, “I’m going to be in ROCKY HORROR!!! Woohoooo.”

“HOT PATOOTIE!” the American Idol runner-up tweeted later.

Lambert will star in the TV special alongside Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox, who will play Dr. Frank-N-Furter – played by Tim Curry in the original. Victorious star Victoria Justice will be taking on Susan Sarandon’s role of Janet, and Justice’s fellow Disney star Ryan McCartan has been cast opposite her as Brad. Penny Dreadful‘s Reeve Carvey will play henchman Riff-Raff.

It’s also been announced that Curry has signed on to come on board the project as the Criminologist Narrator.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show, directed by Kenny Ortega, will air on Fox in the fall.
