Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriots standout incarcerated on a first-degree murder charge, was involved in a prison fight.
The tussle was confirmed by the spokesperson for the Bristol County sheriff’s office, Bernie Sullivan, to the Boston Globe. “[Hernandez] “was involved in an altercation with another inmate” inside the jail, where Hernandez is kept in a special unit with a lower number of fellow inmates
“Neither [man] was seriously injured,” Sullivan added.
The alleged fight is still under investigation, and there’s been no word as to whether or not the former pro football player will face charges for the spat.
Hernandez, 24, has been imprisoned at the Bristol County House of Correction and Jail since last summer when he was charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd, a semi-pro football player that had been dating his girlfriend’s sister. In addition to the murder charge, Hernandez faces charges of possessing a firearm without a license, possessing a large capacity firearm and a firearm without an ID card. He’s pled not guilty to all charges.
In addition to the Lloyd case, Hernandez could wind up facing charges in another one, which stems from a July 2012 double murder. Although no charges have been levied at the athlete, he’s under investigation for having a hand in the deaths of the two men.
Hernandez is not scheduled to appear in court again until June 16.
