Aaron Hernandez Investigated In 2012 Double Homicide Case [Breaking News]
Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriots tight end charged with the murder of friend Odin Lloyd, is now being investigated for a 2012 double slaying in Boston’s South End, reported the Boston Globe.
In July 2012, Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado were shot dead waiting at a stoplight on Shawmut Avenue in Boston in a BMW sedan. Three other passengers in the vehicle survived. According to reports, while they were sitting at the stoplight, someone in a silver SUV with Rhode Island plates pulled up beside the BMW and opened fire.
Investigators believe that Abreu and Furtado got into a fight with Hernandez and his friends at South End’s Cure nightclub. Furthermore, the Boston Police Department has recently located and impounded the silver SUV with Rhode Island registration, and believes Hernandez was renting the vehicle at the time, according to CNN.
Hernandez was charged with first-degree murder on Wednesday and is being held without bail. On Thursday, Hernandez, who is pleading not guilty to the murder charge, will appeal the judge’s decision to hold him without bail at Fall River, Massachusetts, Superior Court.
Last week, Lloyd's body was discovered in an industrial park near a car rented out to Hernandez and less than a mile from his home in North Attleboro, Mass. In court on Wednesday, First Assistant District Attorney Bill McCauley said Hernandez “drove the victim to the remote spot, and then he orchestrated his execution. He orchestrated the crime from the beginning, he took steps to conceal and destroy evidence.” Hernandez’s defense attorney Michael Fee insisted that they don’t have a strong case against his client.
Hernandez is also accused of shooting a man in the eye in Miami this past February while departing a strip club. The accuser, Alexander Bradley, has filed a civil suit but has not been cooperating with Palm Beach County authorities.
