A blue moon is coming tonight and we’re not talking about the beer.

Most seasons have three full moons. But once in a blue moon, a season — like spring of this year — will have four. And it’s the third of those four that’s called a blue moon.

The actual moment the moon will be full is Saturday at 5:11 p.m. ET, according to NASA. The moon will appear full for about three days, from Friday evening through Monday morning, making this a full moon weekend.

For those of you who thought that the moon will actually blue, sorry to let you down; It’ll be the same color it’s always been.

The next time we’ll see a monthly blue moon is going to be a special Halloween treat on October 31, 2020. That’s not too far removed from the last one, which occurred on March 31, 2018.
