SELENA QUINTANILLA’S FAMILY VICTIMS OF HURRICANE HARVEY

Quintanilla was an upcoming star on the Tejano music scene when she was shot on stage by the president of her fan club. Her father, Abraham Quiontanilla, posted a note to Facebook offering his condolences to family members that drowned during the Texas hurricane.

“The family that drowned in Houston Texas were related to me,” he wrote. “Manuel Saldivar and his wife (Belia) and 4 of their grandkids left their flooded house to go somewhere where there was safety, When they cross a bridge a wave of water swept the van and push them in to the bayou. The driver was saved but manuel and his wife and 4 grandkids drowned.”

Saldivar, 84, Belia, 81, and siblings Devy, 16, Dominic, 15, Xavier, 8, and Daisy, 6, were confirmed dead by the authorities and identified by family members.

Hurricane Harvey reached a category 4 storm when it touched land last week in Texas. The death toll at last count had reached 60.
