25th Anniversary ‘Today’ Video Excludes Matt Lauer & Ann Curry
NBC’s Today show just celebrated 25 years of their morning show at Studio 1A. To mark the anniversary, the network shared a five-minute video celebrating “special moments” over the years, starting with a shot of Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel in the ’90s, and including clips of anchors like Al Roker, Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie.
However, many fans noticed some remarkable absences from the tribute, including Matt Lauer who was the face of the program for more than 20 years.
Lauer was fired from Today in November 2017 for inappropriate sexual behavior at work. He was named co-anchor of NBC’s morning news program a decade earlier.

There were many who thought he should be included because he was part of the “family.”
There were others who believed that not including Lauer was the right thing to do.
However, Lauer wasn’t the only anchor left out of the slideshow. Viewers also noted Ann Curry‘s absence.
