‘1000 Pound Sisters’ Star Tammy Slaton Reveals She’s ‘Still Insecure’ About Excess Skin Following 500-Pound Weight Loss
Tammy Slaton has shared that she is “still insecure” about her excess skin following her astounding 500-pound weight loss.
Slaton, 38, who rose to fame from TLC’s 1000 Pound Sisters, recently opened up about her body in an exclusive look at the show’s upcoming season.
In one clip, Tammy and her sister, Amy Slaton, are seen preparing to give one another makeovers.
Looking at the camera, Tammy confesses, “Getting a makeover is very important for me because I’ve come so far with my weight loss, and with all the excess skin, I’m still insecure about myself, and I want to feel beautiful.”
As the two begin to take their seats at the salon, the hairdresser asks the siblings what they are looking for, to which Tammy responds, “Just something new. A new life, a new body, a whole new look.”
At her heaviest, Slaton weighed 725 pounds, and she faced many obstacles and challenges on her path to a healthier life.
In an old Instagram post, Slaton opened up about her struggle with food addiction and how it affected her.
“The mental aspect plays a significant role. Being depressed and having a food addiction, I often ate my feelings, taking out my emotions on food,” she said.
After suffering from a health scare where the sister had to be put in a medically induced coma in 2022, Slaton realized it was her wake-up call, saying, “I wised up and got my surgery.”
The latest season of 1000 Pound Sisters premiered Oct. 8 on TLC. It shows the sisters on transformative journeys to create fresh starts.
