Reality TV star Dean McDermott, the soon-to-be ex-husband of Tori Spelling, says that he is quitting social media. On September 13, McDermott took to Instagram to announce that he would no longer use any social media platforms.

“Goodbye Social Media. It’s been fun . . . NOT !!!!!” McDermott captioned the post with what appeared to be a photo of a cell phone that an ax had shattered. The actor had been relentless hounded by fans for his mistreatment of Spelling.

McDermott’s announcement left users with mixed reactions.

One social media user seemed to question McDermott’s need to announce his exit, saying, “No need to announce your departure! Just leave, lol.”

While some didn’t display much of a reaction to the actor’s statement, others were sad to see him go. “Awe no! You have fans. We love your work, we stand behind you, and we like seeing what you’re working on. 🙂 Your fan Yoli from Cali,” another user wrote.

He has recently used his platforms to mention some significant milestones.

On July 2, the actor posted on Instagram to celebrate one year of sobriety

“Last week was an incredible week of love, hugs and recovery. Thank you to my Sponsor, my Sponsee Brothers and everyone in the fellowship for celebrating my 1 year birthday. A special thanks to @_harmonyplace J,D and H for saving my life. If you’re struggling with addiction, just surrender and ask for help. We’re here waiting for you, to love you, until you love yourself. A beautiful life awaits you. Just reach out your hand. #recovery #change,” he captioned his post.
