Sally Duval, a Democrat running for the Texas state House of Representatives, released a pro-marijuana ad that shows her hitting a bong and smoking a joint.

Duval posted the ad on X saying it was “HIGH time for a change” and residents of Texas deserve safe marijuana products.

The video begins with her smoking a blunt and, in the end, depicts her hitting a bong.

While several states have legalized marijuana, it remains illegal in Texas at the state level. In her ad, Duval made sure to note this, along with the confusing aspects of Texas’ marijuana policy.

“While marijuana remains illegal for most Texans, hemp products that can get you high — like delta-8, delta-9 and THCa — are being sold at more than 7,000 retailers statewide,” she said.

In January, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued to block local ordinances in Austin, San Marcos, Killeen, Elgin, and Denton that decriminalized possession of small amounts of the drug.

While Duval admits her ad is a bit unorthodox, she firmly says, “Texans should have the freedom to consume these products if they want to.”

The pro-pot candidate is running against incumbent Rep. Carrie Isaac (R) in November’s upcoming election.
