VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Bai Ling On Working With Guns & Megan Fox In ‘Johnny & Clyde’
Johnny & Clyde follows the story of two serial killers, Johnny (Avan Jogia) and Clyde (Ajanu Russell) as they plan to rob crime boss Alana’s (Megan Fox) casino.
In an exclusive interview with uInterview founder Erik Meers, Bai Ling revealed what it was like working with Fox on set.
“I’ve always liked Megan, I think she just somehow appeared to me, very sexy,” she began. “You know, this beautiful sexiness, you know. She’s white, I’m Asian, almost kind of similar quality, like kind of outrageous, extreme, and sexy, talented, and beautiful. I think that, you know, that quality on screen is very important because it’s visual, you know. People like to see it, feel it, even though in the film you know, we work together, but physically we do not work together because of our schedule’s differences but it’s the magic of film that you just cut it together.”
Ling went on to detail how she felt about the guns on set.
“In my life, I did a lot of things with guns but now, of course, I’m an actress dealing with guns but when I was 14 I was in [the People’s Liberation Army], but I was so young then,” she said. “It took a long time for me to even dare to touch it because I don’t like the feeling of seeing death, you know, but the guns directly connect to them while you use the gun you will protect somebody or kill somebody so take me a long time but when you’re in the army you have no gun so that’s the first encounter with the gun is like a compromised fear but of course that extended so I loved it because it becomes our toy, and I would say you have to train all the time when we’re doing film. When they asked me to do all these things that they never train in real life but I’m so committed and so trusting 100% and I said just give me a gun, they gave me the gun from the film Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, the real gun, they got it and I held it, but there’s no weight. I know what the gun feels like so really touching them while in control and behind that force of course in this film make me just so excited, like a kid that goes to the candy shop. That’s my character because she knows. I think it’s fun but also it’s a cold, big weapon. It’s very dangerous. I learned to respect to be careful to check.”
“I’ll tell you one thing, it’s so scary,” she continued. “One time I’m in the shooting room, Taipei was the film before. There was a bench there with a gun that I thought I would just play with it once again, I just want to play, right, I didn’t know. I thought I just pulled the trigger and the bullets come up. Can you believe it, just sitting there I shot it. I said, ‘Oh my God.’ Everybody look at me. I said, ‘I didn’t know this, how can you put a real gun there with nobody telling anybody?’ It’s just sitting there, I think it’s so dangerous and people all over the world really have to be careful about guns because accidents happen. That’s something I learned to be careful not to do that again, just not shoot it or ask but it’s good I tested it. If somebody else picked up and – can you imagine that.”
Johnny & Clyde is now available on Prime Video.
