Meghan Trainor reveals her significant weight loss a year after the birth of her son, Riley. Around the time of the birth, Trainor found herself “over 200 pounds” and in a “really dark place.”

Since then, the singer has lost 60 pounds, she told ET Canada humorously that the weight loss happened when she found out “what portions mean.”

The singer explained that she had been through a rigorous exercise routine and a strict diet to reach her goals.

“I learned that I do like healthy food and I learned what portions mean. And I learned my brain is so happy when I exercise,” Trainor said. “I worked every day and challenged myself.”

The star announced the pregnancy in 2020 and in February had a C-section to bring Riley into the world. She reminisced on what that very special and hard part of her life taught her, as well thinking back to her first experience with stitches and scarring due to the C-section.

“I was in a really dark place, and I wanted to be in a great place for my son,” she said.

With help from her husband, Daryl Sabara, Trainor was able to reach the goal she felt was near hopeless.

Trainor stated that her most recent album, Takin’ It Back, deals with her very real struggle post pregnancy, explaining that she felt lost.

“The first song I wrote is called ‘Remind Me’ and it’s about how my husband reminds me who I once was and then how beautiful he thinks I am and I see a lot of that in this album,” she said.

Reflecting on the past, Trainor talks about her confidence boost and how getting through the C-section showed the star that she can “get through anything.”

She noted her everyday difficulties but also explained feel like she’s “strong” and a “badass.” these days.
