Julia Fox, the actress and model best known for her performance in Uncut Gems, spoke honestly about building a public career while suffering from both ADHD and OCD.

Fox filmed the video from what looked like her shower and was wiping smudged eye makeup from her face. She was responding to a fan’s question which read: “Can u [sic] make a video about navigating ur career while being neurodivergent??”

“It’s been very difficult,” Fox began. “I have bouts of, like, great productivity, where I’m on top of the world, and just feeling like I”m invincible, and then I have moments of deep, deep stagnant type of feeling, like I just can’t f––king move.”

“I have a little bit of OCD as well, which I just realized,” she said.

She described behaviors that she had identified as OCD, including that “I used to count the number of letters inside of words in my head, and I’d always want them to reach to ten, and if I’m not smoking weed, I’m literally counting.”

She then joked that while smoking marijuana helps a ton with invasive thoughts in her head, “but it does not help with the productivity issue with the ADHD, ugh, just too much.”

Fox hasn’t had a role as massive as her turn as Uncut Gems since, but she has been working prolifically as a model and an artist in her own right, and had a small role in the Steven Soderbergh-directed film No Sudden Moves.

She has two movie roles that are currently in post-production: The Trainer and Puppet, the latter of which is set for a 2022 release.

Fox briefly dated Kanye West over the summer, garnering much media attention.
