Kim Kardashian has been declared legally single after a hearing this week during a drawn-out divorce battle with her ex Kanye West. While there are still asset and custody agreements to be worked out, they are now legally single and will settle those arrangements later.

West and Kardashian’s legal battle has been long and drawn-out, with West hiring a fourth divorce attorney the day before this hearing. Kardashian and West’s attorneys appeared in person at court, with West was absent and Kardashian showed up via video call.

Via his lawyer, West did not object to Kardashian being granted single status but had three conditions, only one of which was granted by the judge. The only condition kept was “any right to get reimbursement of money that’s supposed to be divided up will be preserved in case either of them dies.”

Kardashian answered a couple of questions during the hearing as the usual protocol for divorce court proceedings. She responded “Yes” to “Are there problems in your relationship?” And “No” to “Do you think your marriage can be saved with counseling?”

Kardashian and West have been treating the final months of their marriage in about as different of ways as possible. Kardashian has been tight-lipped and private through most of the ordeal, only responding occasionally to constant rants and criticism from the other side.

West, on the other hand, has been acting extremely erratically on social media and stalling the divorce with frequent legal resistance. His former divorce attorney, Chris Melcher, said that West was constantly flipping between wanting the divorce and wanting Kardashian back. He has also been increasingly targeting Kardashian’s current boyfriend, Pete Davidson, with threats and ridicule. On the day of the hearing, West even released a bizarre music video where a figure that appears to be West kidnaps and buries a figure resembling Davidson.
