Rapper B.o.B Argues That The World Is Flat, Neil deGrasse Tyson Responds
Rapper B.o.B caused a stir today on his Twitter page when he suggested that the Earth is flat to his 2.29 million followers.
B.o.B Thinks The Earth Is Flat
The rapper’s argument that the Earth is flat started with a tweet that shows him posing on a icy landscape with the caption, “The cities in the background are approx. 16miles apart… where is the curve ? please explain this.” He later tweeted about people slamming his statement, saying, “A lot of people are turned off by the phrase “flat earth” … but there’s no way u can see all the evidence and not know… grow up.” A series of tweets followed with pictures and textbook-like explanations of his position.
Noted astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson took to Twitter to debate with the Atlanta rapper. Tyson tweeted a repsonse to B.o.B’s picture of New York City, saying, “Earth’s curve indeed blocks 150 (not 170) ft of Manhattan. But most buildings in midtown are waaay taller than that.” Tyson continued, “Flat Earth is a problem only when people in charge think that way. No law stops you from regressively basking in it.”
The Atlanta rapper is best known for his 2010 debut album B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, which premiered the singles “Nothin’ On You,” “Airplanes” and “Magic.” His fourth and latest album, Psycadelik Thoughtz, came out in August of 2015.
