VIDEO: Adele Gives Brit Awards Producers The Finger
With six Grammy awards, record-breaking album sales and millions of fans still humming "Rolling in the Deep," Adele, 23, seems to have it all — except for unlimited acceptance speech time. While accepting her second award of the evening at Tuesday's Brit Awards, Adele was cut off by host James Corden and the show's producers, which prompted her to raise her middle finger in an obscene gesture.
The singer later apologized for showing her frustration, emphasizing that it was aimed at folks offstage and not her fans, as it may have appeared. "I'm sorry if I offended anyone but it was the suits that offended me," Adele said in a statement. "Thank you all very much and thanks to my fans. I don't want them to think I was swearing at them."
ITV, which broadcast the Brit Awards, has accepted Adele's apology. "We regret this happened and we send deepest apologies to Adele that her big moment was cut short tonight due to the live show over-running," ITV said, according to CBS News.
Adele won album of the year for her multi-platinum-selling 21 and best British female solo artist.
