VIDEO: Kristen Schaal Talks About Her Live 'Hot Tub Variety Show'

Since her fledgling Flight of the Conchords days, comedian Kristen Schaal has taken the comedy world by storm with scene-stealing roles on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and now 30 Rock.

What many don't know about Schaal, however, is that she's half of the New York comedy duo (with IFC's Kurt Braunohler), Hot Tub Variety Show, which she's been hosting since 2005, when it was voted Best Variety Show of 2005 by Time Out New York's readers.

Every Monday at 8 p.m. the two perform at various comedy clubs in New York. "We had some great energy," Schaal said of when she and Braunohler met and decided to work together. "It was instant and it was really good," she said.

"We try and use Hot Tub as a way for both of us to write new material every week and test things out," said Braunohler about his creative collaboration with Schaal. "And ideally we're doing brand new stuff together and brand new stuff separately."
