'Eastbound & Down' To Return To HBO
Despite some hemming and hawing about the future of HBO's Eastbound & Down, a fictional comedy based on faded sports star Kenny Powers, series creator Danny McBride (who also stars as Powers), has officially revealed that HBO has ordered eight more episodes of Eastbound & Down for season four.
Earlier in the year, McBride publically talked about not being sure he wanted to continue with the dark half-hour HBO comedy. "HBO definitely wants us," McBride told Entertainment Weekly, "and [co-creator] Jody Hill and I love writing for the show, but there is other stuff we'd like to do. Both of us are ready to make jokes concerning people who don't have strange haircuts."
McBride has now apparently reconsidered and confirmed that the show will return for another eight episodes, presumably picking up after the season three finale, when Kenny Powers showed up on ex-girlfriend April Buchanon's (Katy Mixon) doorstep, revealing that he was, in fact, not yet dead.
No word on whether Will Ferrell, Jason Sudeikis or Matthew McConaughey will reprise their roles on Eastbound & Down.
