Whitney Houston Remembered One Year After Her Death

It was exactly one year ago today that pop legend Whitney Houston died in the bathtub of her Beverly Hills hotel room, and to honor her, music producer Clive Davis held his annual pre-Grammys gala on Saturday, Feb. 9, in Houston's honor.

Before playing footage of Houston performing "All the Man that I Need" for the troops, Davis said, "I've chosen one video that isn't seen much and you'll see why Whitney Houston is the greatest contemporary singer of our lifetime."

Davis aimed to keep the party a lighthearted and celebratory affair, and guests like Miley Cyrus, John Mayer, Katy Perry and John Legend graced the event, reports Us Weekly. Miguel, Emeli Sande, Gladys Knight, and Jennifer Hudson, who sang a cover of "I Will Always Love You" at last year's Grammys immediately following Houston's death, all performed at the gala.

Last week, Madame Tussauds debuted four different wax figures of Houston at four iconic points in her career, reports ABC News. They will go on display in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York City and Washington, D.C.

The Houston family, no strangers to the limelight, made headlines late last year with their reality show, The Houstons: On Our Own, which centers around the young adulthood of Houston's only daughter, Bobbi Kristina. Her mother, Cissy Houston, is currently releasing a memoir, Remembering Whitney: My Story of Love, Loss and the Night the Music Stopped.
