Orange Is the New Black, the popular women’s prison-based Netflix original series, has received a release date for its much-anticipated sophomore season, as well as a 15-second teaser.

Orange Is The New Black Season 2

Starring Taylor Schilling as protagonist Piper Chapman, Orange Is the New Black will premiere its second season – in its entirety – on June 6 on the Netflix streaming service. Season 2, like the first season, will feature a total of 13 episodes.

In the first look, Schilling as Chapman and fellow inmates, Nicky (Natasha Lyonne), Dayanara (Dascha Polanco), Red (Kate Mulgrew), Taystee (Danielle Brooks), Gloria (Selenis Leyva), Big Boo (Lea DeLaria), Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba), Morello (Yael Stone) can all be spotted. Prison guards Pornstache (Pablo Schreiber) and John Bennett (Matt McGorry) make brief appearances as well.

Noticeably absent from the teaser are Piper Chapman’s two love interests – her ex-girlfriend/ prison fling Alex (Laura Prepon) and her fiancé Larry Bloom (Jason Biggs). While there was never any doubt Biggs would be returning to the role of the victim-playing writer, there was uncertainty about Prepon’s involvement in the hit series’ second season.

Back in August, it was reported that Prepon would only appear in a few episodes of OITNB’s second season, wrapping up her storyline with Piper for the foreseeable future. The possibility that the character of Alex wouldn’t return deeply concerned fans, who found her storyline with Piper to be one of the show’s strongest arcs. In December, new reports confirmed that the actress would appear in most of Season 2, relieving Orange is the New Black viewers.

Netflix’s other hit original series, political drama House of Cards, released all 13 episodes of its second season on Friday, Feb. 14.
