Hunter Montgomery, the 19-year-old son of Montgomery Gentry singer Eddie Montgomery, died on Sunday.

Hunter Montgomery Dies

Hunter died Sunday at a Kentucky hospital following an accident at the home that left him on life support. Eddie confirmed his son’s death to People, but declined to reveal what caused the tragedy.

“My son Hunter went to heaven today,” the singer said. “I appreciate all your prayers and love and thank you for giving us privacy as we grieve and say goodbye.”

Nancy Nunan, Hunter’s mother and Eddie’s ex-wife, had posted to Facebook from the hospital while Hunter was still fighting for his life.

“As I sit here and watch my precious son, I can’t hold back the tears. God you are the mighty healer and I pray you spare my son. I love him and I feel so helpless,” Nunan wrote. “I feel like my life has just stopped. Please pray for him. Hunter Montgomery I will not accept anything less than you waking up and being with all of us again. I love you son! Please Jesus allow him to feel your presence and let him feel you walking beside him through this journey. Allow him to feel all the prayers of the wonderful people praying for him. Fight Hunter, you are a fighter!”

Hunter is survived by his fiancée Davara Little and son Bennett.

“My beautiful fiancé is amazing and I love her to death she’s a great mother and that is my boy right here,” Hunter wrote on Facebook of his young family back in June. “He’s amazing also I love him to death these two people I swear make my world go around each day there what keep me going.”
