Fergie gave birth to a baby boy on Thursday – her first child with husband Josh Duhamel. Duhamel and the Black Eyed Peas singer named their son Axl Jack Duhamel.

Axl was born at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles via a C-section. He weighed in at 7 pounds, 10 ounces, reported E! News.

Neither Duhamel nor Fergie has been shy about the fact that they’d been trying to have a child for quite some time before the singer became pregnant with Axl. “We hope to have a baby pretty soon," the Safe Haven actor told said in December 2011. "I've always loved kids, so I can't wait to have them myself. I'm excited about it." On Rachel Ray in September, Fergie told the host, “We do hope for children and that will be coming up, but it’s not yet.” Earlier this year, Duhamel told Parade magazine, ”When I do become a father, it will be my greatest achievement."

When the couple announced the pregnancy back in February, they took to Twitter and Facebook and shared a superimposed image of the two stars as kids. Fergie captioned the photo: “Josh & Me & BABY makes three!!! #mylovelybabybump.”

Teaming up with Habitat for Humanity, Duhamel launched the Valspar Hearts and Hands for Habitat Campaign, which focuses on providing aid to families affected by natural disasters. “We want to raise a kid who’s confident, compassionate, and it’s really important that we do that, so it’s important that I set a good example for him,” the actor told People, explaining his involvement with the cause.

“The whole idea that I get to be a dad is something I’ve always dreamt about,” added Duhamel, who’s determined not to “raise an entitled little brat.”
