The first footage showing the wreckage of the Titan submersible was released by the US Coast Guard Marine Board of Investigation (MBI), as part of a public hearing into the vessel’s 2023 implosion. This footage, which was captured on June 22, 2024, shows the Titan submersible’s severed tail cone and other debris from the incident. The wreck is located several hundred yards from the location of the Titanic shipwreck, officials said. All five people on board the vessel were killed in their ill-fated attempt to dive to the Titanic. The passengers included Stockton Rush, the CEO of OceanGate; British businessman Hamish Harding; British-Pakistani billionaire Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood; and French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet.
