As the Paris 2024 Olympic Games begin, U.S. Olympic sport shooter Mary Tucker is aiming for gold. With determination and a positive mindset, Tucker is preparing to make her mark on the global stage.

“I am definitely aiming for gold this time around,” Tucker said. “But success to me is anytime that I can learn. So any competition that I can take something from to improve on in the next time is going to be a win for me.”

Tucker’s journey to Paris is fueled not only by her ambition but also by the support she receives from her family and coach. The Olympics will provide her with a unique opportunity to have them closer, which she believes will be a significant advantage.

“Unfortunately, shooting doesn’t really get that many spectators. I would really encourage people to come out and spectate. I love spectators,” Tucker expressed. “Our AA championships this year was amazing. We had a home crowd and a lot of people cheering, so that really fueled me to do better. But I think the most beneficial for Paris is that my family and my coach are actually going to be able to be there. Having that support system an arm’s length away instead of 12 hours away is going to be really nice.”

Tucker, a standout in the world of sport shooting, has already made a significant impact in her career. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she competed in the 10-meter air rifle and the 50-meter rifle three positions events, showcasing her skill and composure under pressure. Despite not medaling, her performance was a testament to her talent and dedication.

Born in Sarasota, Florida, Tucker’s rise in the sport has been meteoric. She first gained national attention during her career at the University of Kentucky, where she became a multiple-time NCAA champion.

In addition to her Olympic endeavors, Tucker has excelled in other major competitions. She won gold at the 2021 ISSF World Cup in New Delhi in the 10-meter air rifle mixed team event. Her ability to perform consistently at high levels has earned her a reputation as one of the top shooters in the world.
