U.S. Olympic runner Gabby Thomas has her sights set on winning a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. She shared her journey and the challenges she has faced along the way.

“Winning gold is now a clear goal for me,” Thomas told uInterview exclusively. “In the past, I was just happy to be competing and never expected to become an Olympian. But now, I know what I can achieve, and I’m focused on running my best.”

Thomas’ path to the 2024 Olympics has been full of grit and determination. After competing in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she faced a major setback with a hamstring injury that kept her out of the world championships.

“Since the Tokyo Olympics, I’ve grown a lot,” Thomas explained. “It was my first year as a professional runner, and I didn’t know what to expect. The injury was really tough and kept me out of the world championships. But in 2023, I came back stronger and had my best season yet.”

The injury taught Thomas to be resilient. She used the time to rebuild her strength and focus on her goals. Her successful 2023 season showed she could overcome challenges and improve.

“I’ve become much stronger and more confident,” she said. “I feel fit and ready for the 2024 qualifiers. I’ve been through a lot as an athlete, but I’m in a good place now.”

Thomas’ impressive performance in 2023 has raised expectations for her. She is preparing for the 2024 qualifiers, hoping to secure her spot on the U.S. Olympic team and compete for gold in Paris.
