With the 2024 Paris Olympics fast approaching, U.S. field hockey player Kelsey Bing is filled with excitement and optimism about her team’s chances of claiming gold.

“I’m super excited,” said Bing told uInterview. “Our roster hasn’t been named yet so I’m still an Olympic hopeful. But I’m just so excited to be a part of our team in this qualification process.”

For the 27-year-old Bing, the opportunity to potentially compete at the historic field hockey venue in Paris where the 1924 Olympic opening ceremonies took place holds special meaning.

“It’s so amazing. The field hockey venue is actually where the opening ceremonies in 1924 were,” Bing said. “So to have that sort of historic connection to previous Olympics is incredible.”

Though she grew up playing soccer, Bing credits the “incredible mentors and strong women” she’s had along the way for supporting her journey into the sport of field hockey at the highest level.

“I’ve been able to lean on their experience to grow myself, not only as an athlete but as a human being and individual,” she said.

With the U.S. having claimed silver at the 2022 World Cup to qualify for Paris, Bing believes her team is capable of bringing home Olympic gold. Her immediate goal is for the Americans to advance through pool play and reach at least the quarterfinals.

“There’s six teams in our pool and so top four in the pool guarantees quarterfinals,” Bing explained. “And from there going to re-evaluate and the Olympic qualifier we got second so I know the sky’s the limit for our team.”
