Ask Me To Dance follows the story of Jack, an IT programmer, and Jill, a graphic designer who are both unlucky in love. One night, it all changes when a fortune teller separately gives them both hope, but a series of events leaves the audience to guess if they will get their happily ever after.

Briana Evigan, who plays Jill, recently sat down with uInterview founder Erik Meers to discuss relating to the film.

“When I read the script, I loved it and immediately said yes to my agents,” Evigan said. “I was like, ‘Wow, this is right up my alley right now. This is my life right now.’ I had finally gotten the dating apps during the pandemic. I finally caved! It only lasted about maybe four months. None of the dates from the apps went well. Most of them lied to me about certain things including their age and there were all sorts of weird ways of sharing things and finding out. It’s just nuts that this is how we’re meeting people today. I read the script and I was like, ‘Yes, get me to New York tomorrow! Let’s do this. This is so fun.'”

Evigan also revealed her favorite scene in the film.

“I love the park bench scene at the end when we meet,” she said. “It’s like that moment when you see somebody and time stops and nothing else really matters. Everything kind of just dissipates and I love that. Same with the end dance sequence. For me, that was a really special scene. We had worked on it for the whole shoot and it was actually the last scene of the film. We filmed it in that order which never happens. It was special and kind of a closing and we had all become really good friends. It was a cool way to go out and I think you can see in the movie that we felt it. Of course, the ridiculous dating scenes were so fun, because that’s the reality I think most of us have been experiencing.”

Ask Me To Dance is out in select theaters on October 7.
