Bones and All follows the story of two cannibalistic teenagers (played by Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell) whose budding romance is challenged by their need to consume human flesh and the moral ramifications that come with it.
In an exclusive interview with uInterview, producer Peter Spears, who took home the best picture Oscar for Nomadland, discussed some of the challenges of making a romantic cannibal movie.

“It was a script that was developed by Teresa Park and I’ve never actually not started the process myself,” Spears began. “I’m always the one to first option the material and develop that script so it really spoke to the caliber of the script that when they came to me it felt like a project that they might have started from scratch. I think that yes, the subject matter at first glance looks to be crazy and out there, but I think you can see a lot of in that movie, the through lines to the sorts of stories I’m drawn to and the kinds of folks living in, you know, in the margins and finding ways to put a light on those stories and and show in that what is still sort of universal. Whether it’s, you know, a young Jewish boy in 1980s in Call Me By Your Name or you know Francis McDormand in Nomadland, her character, or cannibalism in Bones and All, I think there’s a commonality to all those stories.”
Bones and All is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video or Apple TV+.
