VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Molly Bernard Reveals The Secrets Of Finale Of ‘Younger’
Molly Bernard reveals what fans should expect to see in the final season of Younger in her new uInterview.
“Lauren, my character is about to turn 30, she I think is simultaneously terrified of it and excited for a reason to celebrate because she loves throwing a party,” Bernard, 33, told uInterview’s Erik Meers, “but, it’s good, she I think ends up feeling very, very excited about growing into herself and growing up and getting older ironically, which is something I can identify with. I like basically threw myself a wedding for my 30th birthday.”
“But this season, you know, all of the characters really continue to blossom and the arc that the writers personally wrote for me I’m just so pleased with and I can’t wait for fans to see it,” she said. “There’s just so many homages dropped everywhere to the history of our show to the current situation that we’re living in. There’s so many little like kisses everywhere that I can’t wait for people to see it!”
Bernard’s favorite scene of the upcoming season?
“There’s a scene where I’m flying on like, you know, cables, and Kathy Najimy, who plays my mother, was there. And I was so afraid to do it. I was so freaked out. It was up really high, I think it was like 30 feet in the air just dangling on strings, and Kathy was like, ‘Listen, when I did Hocus Pocus,’ she calls it the ‘Halloween movie,’ ‘When I did the Halloween movie, the most fun that I had was flying on the cables. You are going to love it, but you have to give over to it, and then just have a ball.'”
“Honestly I was like [my character] Lauren would not be afraid of this, and Kathy’s telling me not to be afraid, so I just need to like rock out, and it was so fun,” the actress said. “And it’s also nice at work when you get to kind of get over a personal hurdle like a fear, and I did it, you know Hilary [Duff] was there and Sutton [Foster] was there also, so I was like, ‘Oh I’m getting over fear in front of my friends! Yeah this is cool!'”
“The writers have done such an impeccable job of ending our show,” Bernard said. “It’s so elegant and elegant is kind of an odd word to describe our show, and TV maybe, but the art of ending something is really difficult and they do it beautifully and all of the characters have fun, moving, silly, heart-wrenching, everyone has an amazing ending, and I’m so proud of what we’ve done and I cannot wait for fans to see it.”
The first six episodes of Younger Season 7 are streaming on Paramount+. New episodes drop every Thursday.
