The Watcher, a mystery thriller that’s based on a true story, follows the lives of a family who moves into an idyllic home in Westfield, New Jersey, only to be repeatedly harassed as anonymous letters from a stalker begin to show up.

Margo Martindale recently sat down for a conversation with uInterview founder Erik Meers to discuss what it was like working with Ryan Murphy.

“I wanted to play this character because there’s a Ryan Murphy role, a Ryan Murphy world and I really love the genre. I love thrillers,” Martindale revealed. “This is my second show working with him and he kind of speaks my language. He’s funny. He’s very funny. He also understands what audiences want and he’s incredibly versatile. I just enjoy him terribly, I really do.”

Martindale also revealed her favorite behind-the-scenes moment.

“There was a scene towards the end where it was a Friday evening and it was Mia [Farrow] and me and Michael Nouri and Terry Kinney and Joe Mantello and I got hysterical with laughter and ruined a lot of takes,” the actress recalled. “I made the crew want to kill me because it was a Friday night and they were like, ‘We want to go home.’ We laughed until we cried, so it was memorable!”

The Watcher is now streaming on Netflix.
