The Banshees of Inisherin follows two old friends Pádraic and Colm, but Colm suddenly cuts off their friendship. The ending of the friendship leads to a series of unfortunate consequences.

Kerry Condon, who plays Siobhan Súilleabháin, recently sat down with uInterview founder Erik Meers to discuss working with esteemed director Martin McDonagh and his vision for the film.

“He always wants to go for the truthful side of human beings, even if it’s an uncomfortable or not very attractive side to them,” Condon revealed. “The truthful side of a breakup and the emotion that you go through – be it a friendship break up or a romantic break up, it could be either. It’s also feeling rejected and all those truthful feelings, but at the same time doing it with humor, which he’s so good at. It isn’t often that you get a movie with both. It’s either a comedy or a drama, whereas this film is both.”

The actress also shed insight into working with Colin Farrell and shared what gifts he gave the whole cast.

“I was more close to Colin with more scenes together and he’s just a very kind person,” she said. “He’s kind to all people, not just the people who are in front of him, and the crew. Every Friday, he would do something super generous for the crew, like have a crepe truck or a coffee truck or a sauna and all the crew could use the sauna on the weekend. He was a super generous, kind person to everybody and I think that helped with the rapport.”

The Banshees of Inisherin is playing in theaters now.
