Gabriel Hogan and Hassie Harrison star in the new comedy series  Tacoma F.D., and the pair demonstrated their comedic chemistry in a new uInterview.

“I’m Kevin Heffernan and this is Steve Lemme,” Hogan started out by joking in an exclusive talk with uInterview, referencing the show’s creators and main stars. Heffernan and Lemme are members of the Broken Lizard comedy group and are best known for their role in the cult comedy film Super Troopers.

Tacoma F.D., which airs on truTV, centers on a fire department and the crazy events that take place there on a daily basis. Hogan plays Ike Crystal, one of the firefighters from the fictional department.

“He also moonlights as an exotic dancer, [or] a ‘male review’ dancer, very classy stuff,” Hogan added of his character as Harrison laughed beside him. “A lot of these guys and gals have second jobs.”

Harrison plays Lucy McConky, the daughter of Heffernan’s character, Chief Terry McConky.

“I’m the new rookie on the squad, and so we see a female enter this kind of male-dominant space,” said Harrison. “I’m just kind of finding where I fit in in this world and challenging some gender roles and just getting into some shenaningans with the boys.”

Hogan revealed Tacoma F.D.‘s writers let the cast improvise for many things, which made it more difficult not to break character.

“You feel like a jerk if you break and can’t use a lot of stuff,” said Hogan.

“We share everything evenly,” Harrison added of the vibe on set.

“Not really, I think I’m generally regarded as the best performer, the funniest guy,” Hogan then quipped.

“The most humble…” Harrison replied, smiling and rolling her eyes.

“There’s not a lot of competition there,” Hogan continued.

Tacoma F.D. airs Thursdays at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on truTV.

Gabriel Hogan and Hessie Harrison On ‘Tacoma F.D.’
Q: Who are your characters on the show?

A: Hogan: Well, I’m Kevin Hefferman, this is Steve Lemmy, and we created ‘Super Troopers’ and no. I play Ike Crystal, and he is one of the firefighters on ‘Tacoma F.D.,’ he also moonlights as an exotic dancer, a male revue dancer, very classy stuff. A lot of these guys and gals have second
jobs, a lot of the firemen and women, so that’s what Ike does. In a nutshell, that gives you an idea of what kind of guy he is.

Harrison: I play Lucy McConkey and Kevin Hefferman plays my dad. I’m the new Probie on the squad, and I guess we kind of see a female enter this kind of male dominant space and I’m just kind of finding where I fit in in this world and challenging some gender roles, kind of just getting into the shenanigans with the boys.

Q: What’s been the funniest moment on the show?

A: Hogan: What’s not fun is doing press with her, I’ll tell you right now. I’m just kidding, it’s awesome. I think it’s hard to pick one moment, like we said, but just sometimes getting through scenes with your fellow actors. Because they do let us riff on stuff and improve and everything, and you feel like a jerk if you break, and you can’t use a lot of stuff. We were talking to the editors at the screening in Los Angeles, and I asked them, “Do you have trouble putting stuff together?” And they said, “yeah, for sure, somebody’s gonna break, and there’s that most second that you have to cut it out and keep what you can keep.” The whole thing was funny, you go home and your cheeks and abs are killing you from laughing so much.

Harrison: I would just say, our general vibe on set is just super fun, and I think if anything, it just feels like a 12 hour party by the end of the day. And I think it’s just of up keeping our stamina and our energy. Yeah, a whole lot of not breaking. We share everything evenly.

Hogan: I think I’m generally regarded as the best performer, the funniest guy, the best comedian.

Harrison: The most humble.

Hogan: The fastest foot speed, the strongest. So that’s generally acknowledged, so there’s not a lot of competition there, right.

Harrison: Nailed it.
