Actress Ally Maki told uInterview exclusively what her hidden talent is when promoting her new show, The Big Door Prize, in which she plays Hana.
The series follows a town that is forever transformed when a mysterious machine appears that reveals people’s hidden powers. Before long, the locals start shifting their entire lives and asking themselves if they are really on the right track in their lives.
When asked about her hidden talent, Maki stated, “You know, I don’t know if it’s a hidden talent but I am obsessed with docu-crime and crime series like, I get so invested that I will watch all of the court cases, and I think that I’m part of the case. So, I’d think I’d make a pretty good lawyer.”
In addition to acting, she is the creator of the Asian American Girl Club, which is a company that honors Asian American women, which she started after the movie, Crazy Rich Asians, came out.
“I remember looking on Twitter and it just this explosion of support and excitement around this movie that was the first all Asian cast I’d seen in my lifetime,” she told Glamour. “I had this glass-shattering moment of, if this is possible, what else is possible for us as a community. What I wanted to dive further into was Asian American Women.”
