VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Adam Bartley On The Male Insecurities Behind ‘Honesty Weekend’

Adam Bartley reveals what it was like playing “a very real character” dealing with male insecurities in Honesty Weekend in his new uInterview.

“I play a guy named Harry who is in a relationship with a lovely woman that definitely wants, is ready to go to the next step and is ready to have children, that’s her primary goal at this point in her life is to have children, and I am not there yet,” Bartley told uInterview’s Erik Meers. “I am still sort of trying to enjoy my life by just dipping my toes in and not jumping all the way into the pool.”

“He talks about being a heavy guy you know himself, but is concerned about you know that his girlfriend is heavy as well and me having all of the sort of insecurities around all of that, which is very real for me. A lot of people sort of see things that way, don’t look at themselves but look at their partner for what, you know, what they may not be happy about with them,” he observed.

Bartley noted how he related to the struggles of his character. “The grass is always greener in this situation,” he said. “I see people married with kids and I’m like, ‘Oh man, look at how much purpose and how much comfort and how much joy you are getting out of your life,’ you know, and I take care of my dogs and, you know, and sometimes I’m lonely. And of course for them sometimes it’s like, ‘You don’t understand how good you have it. You don’t get it. You get to do whatever you want all day long,’ you know, ‘and I am thrust into servitude,'” he said, impersonating his friends with children.

His favorite scene?

“When we were all pretending, getting high together you know with the bong or whatever. I mean look, I’ve worked on a bunch of different things for the past 10 years, and I’ve never showed up on the set for any project and had such synchronicity and such instant friendships and had such a total combined willingness from everyone to play and have a blast,” he said.

Honesty Weekend is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. Check out the trailer below.
