VIDEO: Aerial Footage From Firefighting Plane Shows Views of California’s Franklin Fire

Footage from a firefighting aircraft captured aerial views of the Franklin fire as it burned in Malibu, California, on Wednesday, Dec. 11.

This footage was released by the California Fire Pilots Association, which said it shows a “tag and extend” drop run down Malibu Canyon Road.

Specialized firefighting aircraft dropped water and fire retardant on the blaze, which has threatened homes since it ignited late on Monday.

As of Friday, the fire had burned 4,037 acres and was 30 percent contained, according to the latest information published by Cal Fire.

Footage obtained earlier in the week showed the fire raging in the wealthy city of Malibu.
